ST. ST PETERSBURG, Nov : Russia on Monday for the first time publicly confirmed the offer of Pakistan for full membership of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made this statement in response to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani speaking on 10 of the SCO Heads of Government in the Russian Premier Constantine Palace here.The Prime Minister Gilani has also supported the proposals to implement trade and energy projects. He announced $ 0.5 billion funding for the CASA-1000, which guarantees the transmission of power from Turkmenistan to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan and said Afghanistan.Putin practical point of view and practical, Russia wants the materialization of projects such as TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline project and the Central Asia-South Asia electricity trading and transmission of the project (CASA 1000).

Later, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting and discussed several important issues such as terrorism and extremism, in addition to requiring the need to adopt a regional approach to tackle big challenges.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has described the meeting with Prime Minister Gilani, "pleasant" and expressed satisfaction with bilateral ties and trade between the countries.

"Pakistan is important for us to trade and economy, and is an important partner for South-East Asia and the Islamic world," said Prime Minister Gilani.

Putin offered Russian help in the expansion of Pakistan Steel Mills and providing technical support for Guddu power plants and Muzaffargarh.

He said Russia could help Pakistan in implementing the Thar coal project.

Gilani said this was his fourth meeting with Prime Minister Putin. He said he joined other leaders of the SCO Forum in spite of the Eid, like the importance of the forum and also the commitment of Pakistan to regional issues.

He thanked the support of Russia for the 1000 mega-projects such as the House.

Putin supported the position of Pakistan in the war against terrorism and agreed to continue the policy of fight against terrorism to ensure regional peace.

The two prime ministers agreed that collective regional efforts needed to eliminate terrorism in the region to mark the beginning of peace and stability, and redirect all energies towards economic interaction among SCO members.
