Spanish Fernando Verdasco is through the second round of the Paris Masters after recovering from the first set to beat Marin Cilic of Croatia.

Verdasco, ranked twenty-third of the world suffered ensured victory 3-6 6-2 6-3 and will have the fifth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in the second round.

"And 'tournament last year, and I just want to finish as best as possible," said Verdasco ATP Tour's official site.

Make sure that the games are played on the opening day Monday, the Top 16 seeds all received byes to the second round, Spain Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4 1-6 Santiago Giraldo saw Colombia 6-4 to set the last 32 clash with sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Even proceeding on Monday were the Frenchman Nicolas Mahut and Julien Benneteau in the form German Florian Mayer and South African Kevin Anderson.

Paris Masters is the last event in the ATP Tour calendar with three seats still up for grabs in the season ending ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer and David Ferrer have already secured their place for the peak season of seven players vying for the remaining places.

According to a variety of scenarios, all three of Berdych, Tsonga, Mardy Fish, Nicolas Almagro, Janko Tipsarevic, Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils will take their place in finals in London.
